The Skull Trend for Kids

It is so hard to believe that the summer is almost over. I have started my back-to-school shopping for the girls and what I have noticed while browsing my favorite stores is that the skull trend has not died. We were walking through the gap looking for new back packs and two of my girls started screaming… “I want the skull back pack”.  The girls back pack comes in blue and purple, the boys come in gray and black. Gap even has great t-shirts with the skull and bone applique. My favorite, and the one I purchased for my daughter is the pink featured below. A shiny pink skull with heart eyes! Perfect.

Violet Love

This past weekend I went to the salon and enjoyed every minute of my two hours just sitting and reading magazines while getting my hair done. Looking through all the fashion magazines gave me the itch to buy something. Since I was heading out to a cookout later that afternoon I wanted something fun and sassy to dress up my classy casual outfit. It was perfect, as I was walking out of the salon I spotted a patterned headband. It was mine. I put it on as soon as I got in the car. I cranked the music and sang at the top of my lungs looking all fresh with my new do in my new Violet Love headband. Well, I was not home more than 1 hour and the headband was missing. I knew where I had left it, but it wasn’t there. At that moment it dawned on me that little fingers had carried it off somewhere. You will be happy to hear I got it back in time to wear to my cookout. Lucky me Violet Love created a headband line just for kids, so I don’t have to share mine!

Fun Things to Do with Dad on Father’s Day

Father’s Day! I know what I like to do on Mother’s Day, and it involves taking the day and spending it shopping, or getting pampered without the kids. Is Father’s Day a day for dad to do as he pleases or a day for dad to spend with his favorite little ones? See, the way I look at it is I am home all day everyday with the kids and I am very lucky and fortunate to be able to spend that time with them. Most dads however do not get as much time with the family. That’s why finding the most fun activity with the little tykes is so important. A fun activity can be packing a picnic lunch and taking a bike ride with dad to that favorite picnic spot, having dad tell stories about his favorite things he did with his dad as a child, or playing a good game like bocce.

The activity part I have covered because every year we take my husband and his father strawberry picking at our local farm. We get a ton of strawberries and then make a strawberry rhubarb pie. Once you find the activity that dad most enjoys start the tradition of doing that activity every Father’s Day.

Summer Days

Summer is right around the corner. That means spending many hot days at the beach and the pool club. It is a good idea to have a lot of beach towels on hand for those little ones and there are so many cute towels to choose from. I know from experience that bringing just one towel per child when heading out for the day is not enough. Towels fall in the pool, get dragged through water puddles, and if at the beach become full of sand. Not to mention you need an extra to dry off after showering!
