Zhu Zhu

Listen, I’m not one to go crazy over the “it” holiday toy.  I remember there was the ‘Tickle Me Elmo’ (never bought one), the ‘furby’ (the what?) and  the ‘rubik’s cube’ (had one) and let’s not forget the one, the only, ‘Cabbage Patch Kid’.  I am not ashamed to say (yes, I am) that I had fourteen of them.  (I had an Italian Grandma.  She went a little crazy sometimes).  Anyway, this year it was the Zhu Zhu pet.  A little hamster type animal that zooms around and makes noise.  I only heard about them from a commercial that came on one day while I was watching a show with my 3 year old.  Well, that did it.  ”Mommy, mommy, I want a zhu zhu pet!!”.  Oh lord, am I going to become that mother? The one who will stop at nothing to get a Zhu Zhu pet.  Yes, I became that mother.  First I looked online, then at the local stores.   No, no where to be found.  Oh, yes, except for Ebay.  I tried bidding, but it was crazy. The bidding went beyond $40 sometimes to $100.  Yes, $100 for an item that cost $8.99 at CVS.  Well, anything for my Gracie Jane.  I did a ‘buy it now’ for $36.  Zhu Zhu.  Let me tell you something, to see my little girl go absolutely crazy when she unwrapped the paper on that little box and to finally hold  real Zhu Zhu pet in her hands was priceless.  She hasn’t let him go yet.  In the car, in bed, at the dinner table. So cute and it was all worth it.  Zhu Zhu.
